PAHADI URAD DAL KHICHDI
INGREDIENTS
- Urad Dal – 100 gms
- White or Red Rice – 200 gms
- Sabut Garam Masala
- Red Chilly’s – 2 to 3
- Chopped Onion – 1
- Ginger Juvenile – 1/4 inch
- Asafoetida ( Heeng ) – 1/2 tsp
- Jakhiya – 1/2 tsp
- Garam Masala Powder – 1 tsp
- Cumin – 1/2 tsp
- Salt – as per taste
- Water – as per requirement

- Total Time : 45 – 50 mins
- Preparation Time : 15 mins
- Cooking Time : 25 – 35 mins

COOKING PROCESS
- Soak the Urad dal for 2 – 3 hours & rice ( you could use either red or white rice ) for 30 – 45 mins.
- Drain the water from dal and rice.
- Take cooker & over medium flame add ghee, cumin seeds, red chilies, whole garam masala, grated ginger, and asafoetida. Fry for 1 – 2 mins.
- Add chopped onion. & saute onion till golden brown.
- Add lentils (dal), red chili powder, turmeric, and saute for 1 – 2 mins.
- Next, add rice, mix nicely with other ingredients in the pressure cooker. Add water, salt, and garam masala.
- Wait for 2 – 3 whistles over low heat.
- Serve Urad Dal Khichdi warm with ghee.
